Johnny,

Just got a new cash drawer which is hooked up to a new Epson TM-T88V receipt printer. What is the Atrex 12 command please?

If the printer is not new and you are just replacing the cash drawer, the existing codes should work as the open drawer codes are printer specific rather than cash drawer specific. If you do not already have the codes configured, you will need to consult your user manual for the printer or query the manufacturer.

Both are new for this location so it has never been set up before. Atrex 12 has options for Com1 and LPT1 etc but this Epson Tm-T88V printer is connected via USB. The Cash drawer just has the 6 wire jack connecting to the back of it. The receipt printer works perfectly other than the fact that I can't find the command to open the cash drawer. The Epson site is of no help.

Johnny,

Since the drawer connects to the printer, the printer driver will have an option in the setup to open the drawer after a print job. You need to find that option in the printer driver setup and enable it. Once that is done, the drawer will pop whenever you print to the receipt printer. Beyond that, you can also tell Atrex to use that same printer driver to open the drawer when using the open drawer function.

That doesn't work for us either. Putting the -1, -2 etc in for time on come backs then debits the total hours in the report. Some of the techs run 40 - 60 jobs in a week, and we would have to hunt them out and not deduct the negative hours from the good hours.

Need to have the come back hours not tabulated on the report. another bullet box when the report starts like the warranty job button. and another option on the work order for "come backs"

Perform the come back hours as a warranty job separate from any parts.

Custom forms

Our company currently runs v11.12. We also have a custom DB for our internal production forms that uses information from Atrex to propagate the different fields.

We are in the process of upgrading our hardware which requires using Windows 7. Our big issue is our custom DB programmer has retired and getting our forms DB to work on 7 is impossible.

Does anyone know of an off the shelf package that will allow for "simple" forms creation that will be compatible with Atrex 13?

I did already find that option for the printer driver to 'sound an external bell' which uses the same pulse but that didn't work. So I was thinking I could tell Atrex to do it when printing (like I have set up on the other machine) but I don't know what code to put in Atrex with the printer hooked up via USB.

In the Receivables Reports menu The cash drawer report is not there? I thought this would be used like you would Z out the daily totals like a cash register.

There is no code for Atrex when the printer is USB as the drawer is opened by the print driver only.

There is an option in the print driver specific to the cash drawer, it is not 'sound an external bell'.

Use the printer options from the driver not from windows. For Epson the option to open cash drawer before receipt print or after is in the options. You need the full driver and option package from Epson was anout 60 - 70 MB.

To allow users with different authorities to access the report, it is included under the cash drawer functions.

As long as you are using Atrex 12 or 13 you will be OK as these are the versions that work with Windows 7.

Im planning to start testing Atrex on a temporary computer for now. Can i transfer the same data to another dedicated computer later on?. Also does Atrex has option for data synchronization over the air via some server or it has to be lan.

Go to Options - Backup/Restore - Backup on the temporary system and then use Restore on the target system.

Also does Atrex has option for data synchronization over the air via some server or it has to be lan.

Atrex will function over any network you establish, LAN or WAN as well as wireless or wired. The data is stored on one system and accessed by any system on your network. Moving the data between systems is only accomplished via the backup and restore functions.

iphone / BB / Android scanner?

With the proliferation of apps out there which will pull online data for cheapest price of a known barcode, I wonder if you're aware of an app that could be used internally to look up data from Atrex?

Specifically I'd want the received/modified date so that aged stock could be identified easily.

It wouldn't need to be linked live to Atrex, but would be nice. A hack like exporting all skus to excel and nuking all the data except for sku and received/modified would work.

Is anyone doing something like this? I've had the idea of using a tablet running Atrex with a bar code scanner, but that seems like way more than I need in terms of functionality and cost.

This update includes a small number of changes to the Atrex 13 package and 
an update to the database engine.   The full 13.30 change list is available

As this update includes a change to the database version number, please 
remember to update ALL Atrex related components that you are using at the 
same time.  This includes Atrex on each workstation, the database server, 
the ODBC driver, and the ecommerce utility.  Once a database is accessed 
using Atrex 13.3x, it is not possible to connect to the database using Atrex 
13.0x or 13.1x.
