Atrex 12.08 is now available

The Atrex 12.08 maintenance release is now available for download from the
main Millennium Software downloads page at
http://www.atrex.com/downloads.asp or directly from
http://www.atrex.com/downloads/atrexinstall.exe.

This update includes corrections to the Atrex 12 package as well as several
performance enhancements and is recommended for all users of Atrex  12.
The 12.08 change list is available at http://www.atrex.com/1208correct.html.

Substantively there is no difference and the error reporting code is removed so it is recommended that you do use the release version.  No rush, just when you have time to upgrade your systems.

We seem to be having a few issues after installing this update.

I'll have to make a note of the exact error messages and numbers, but our till system is throwing errors after trying to start service orders and Atrex will quit randomly after completing a transaction.  This of course results in a "Starting this copy of Atrex will exceed the number of licences error"...

I'll have to make a note of the exact error messages and numbers, but
our till system is throwing errors after trying to start service orders
and Atrex will quit randomly after completing a transaction.

We have had had reports of similar issues from a couple of clients since the
release of 12.08 and we've been actively investigating the reports.
Unfortunately the errors can't be reproduced at will which makes them
extremely difficult to track down.  The good news is that we found a way to
reproduce the errors frequently enough that we were able to make a few
changes to the build process which appears to resolve the issues.

As soon as a new test build is available, I'll email you a download link to
see if it resolves the issues for you.

Hello we are also having problems after installing 12.08. Although I was not able to witness this today, our Service Manger reported the errors to me. I will keep an eye on things tomorrow and report back if anything strange happens.

I would gratefully appreciate any revision you make to this update.

You can download the current build directly from the downloads page.  We've
pushed up a rebuild earlier this evening to resolve a startup issue with
Vista and the import issue should be resolved in this build as well.

I have been using the error report with screenshot to send info back to Atrex.

Are there any problems with database structure if we went back to 12.07?

Most of the errors seem to be around the service functions, typically after updating a service order or starting a new one.  Latest error is "External exception C000001D" After I added info to a service order and printed it. 

I hope these errors do not cause any issue with the DB.

What is the full build number?  You can find this via the Options - System Information window.

The current build available from our web site is 12.0.8.407 .

No.  They are almost identical and the minor differences won't make any issues.

Most of the errors seem to be around the service functions, typically after

exception C000001D" After I added info to a service order and printed it.

That's what we found as well and configured a set of automated testing scripts here to test the situation.   With the initial build of 12.08, we were seeing  the errors that you were getting every 3 to 7 SOs created. With the current build, we've been creating and editing 50+ SOs back to back without any errors.

I hope these errors do not cause any issue with the DB.

Given that they are occuring after the database is updated and flushed, there shouldn't be any issues with the database itself.

Hey Terry,

No, not in the SO area. We are having trouble in various areas but not consistant. Seems to be when the program is left open and user does something in other programs and then comes back to Atrex to do something.

We have had trouble in that scenario doing Invoices, Batch Processing and Transfers.

We curently have a SO open but when I went to edit it it is saying :

The transaction that you are attempting to modify is locked by another user. Please try this function a later time.

This is not open by any one else.

How can I get around this?

Another Service has just done the same thing. Went in to edit one a put a stock item in and Atrex crashed.

Now we have another locked Service.

How can I get around this?

If you are running with a client/server connection, close Atrex on each workstation (you can restart it immediately) to ensure that the session that obtained the lock is closed and the database server engine will remvove the locks after a few minutes.

If you are running a peer-to-peer direct connection, you will need to restart the server as the OS will hold the locks indefinitely.

When trying to edit a service order, I am occasionally receiving an error "A component named SOMainDlg already exists"
