Cash Drawer with Star TSP100 Receipt Printer
Ok, I give up here.  I have been playing around with this now for the last 3 1/2 hours.  Just installed the new version on an Windows 7 (32-bit) machine.  Everything is working fantastic (great job on the upgrade Terry!).

I cannot, however, for the life of me get the cash drawer to open.  Worked great in previous version...but absolutely will NOT pop open now.  Using Star TSP100 Future Print receipt printer.  Cash drawer is plugged directly into the printer.

Suggestions on this one??  I am at a complete loss.

Re: Cash Drawer with Star TSP100 Receipt Printer
Terry....actually I think that you covered this in an earlier post....just a matter of waiting for the next release, correct?

Are you testing this from the cash drawer setup window of from Ctrl-Alt-F1?

We've also had reports of issues with the buffering in Windows 7 with serial ports.  Open up the System option of the Windows Control Panel, select the Device Manager from the options and then locate the serial port that the drawer is connected to.  On the advanced options for the port, set the transmit and receive buffers to low.  Reboot the system and then try the drawer again.

Re: Cash Drawer with Star TSP100 Receipt Printer
Terry,

CTRL-ALT-F1 sends the command to the receipt printer, which is causing the printer to advance a line or two and then cut the paper.  It does not pop the cash drawer however.

The cash drawer is not plugged into a serial port.  There is a cable (like a Cat5 Cable) that plugs the drawer into the printer.

In the device manager I do see a "Star Micronics Port Device" but there is nothing like a "Transmit and Receive Buffer" when I select that.  There is also Ports COM & LPT but also no setting like that.

Have been testing from the cash drawer setup, the CTRL-ALT-F1 and processing invoices.

Any chance that the cash drawer set-up information has been modified since installing Atrex 13?  From your description is sounds like there is communications occurring, just not the right information to pop the drawer open.  If this system did not have Atrex 12 previously, there will not be any configuration for the cash drawer so it may have not have setting that work with the printer.

Mark,

The system that this is installed on does not have any previous versions of Atrex.  We used to use a program called REGIT.  When using that program, the cash drawer does pop open when the receipt prints.

Honestly, I do not even know if there are specific settings for the drawer as I have never messed with it.  When setting it up in the other program we just identified which printer to use (receipt printer) and that was it.

Mark,

Should I try removing v.13, installing v.12 and then upgrading to v.13?

Re: Cash Drawer with Star TSP100 Receipt Printer

I found a similar problem after replacing our cash drawer system with a new Windows 7 workstation.  I can use the open cash drawer from the menu.....but the Control Alt F1 doesn't work.....

I tried the buffer thing and didn't fix it.

Any ideas with this?   Something with keyboard mapping I beleive but can't find any resolution out there.

Re: Cash Drawer with Star TSP100 Receipt Printer
Shawn,

Here is what we ended up doing to fix ours....

Click on the Start Icon.
Click on Devices and Printers.
Right click on the receipt printer and choose the Printer Properties.
The far right hand tab is called, I believed, Advanced.  Check to make sure that the drawer is set to open.

Ours had been set to "no" so changing that little detail got us up and running great.

Let us know if that worked for you or not :)
